Day One Seventy
Luke has been asking about the different meat that we eat at meal time. It is curiosity for sure, but I cant help but feel like he is a bit concerned about eating all those animals. Mom had the where with all to tell him that one of the reasons we say grace is to thank all those animals who gave their life for our nourishment. (did you know that there are more chickens on the planet earth than any other bird?)
This made me think we should design a new grace, something that specifically includes a thanks to those animals.
It also made mom and me wonder if we should cut down on the meat intake in general? Not that we eat in inordinate amount of meat and I think it is avery important part of a growing person diet, but it is, to catch a phrase, food for thought.
Day One Sixty Nine
I have found a burst of energy in trying to finish off the last leg of landscaping around our house.
As has been previously reported here, much of it revolves around building a fantastic “dig” area for Luke and Lil. Luke has become so entrenched in this one area, which is not the best place for us to be honest, that I have been a bit nervous about broaching the whole subject. But low and behold, I walked Luke through my idea of an excavation site, complete with working crane arm and a very deep dig site.
Lets just say, he was pretty impressed.
I started the hole and Lily helped me go get the railroad ties

Luke’s friend, sister, confident, partner, cohort, you name it.
Just when I was ready to throw in the nap towel on Lily and accept the fact that she has dropped her only nap, she does a 360. Over the weekend she napped one day like three and a half hours. and it seems to be a trend. Either way is fine of course.
I do think that she just went through a huge change, growth spurt, awareness shift, whatever. She just seems like she went to sleep and woke up a different person, a little girl to be precise. More enjoyable, more delightful and more full of energy than before
Lily Apple Cline is no long er a girl on fire, she is now an active volcano.
Day One Sixty Eight
Luke calls mom and dad by our first names.
I don’t really have a comment on this, but I do remember when I was young that a friend of my older sister called her parents by their first names and I thought it was very strange.
Luke is not strange.
