Day One Thirty Seven
I went to the “Party Store” to try and find some fake jewels for Luke’s birthday today (I realized I have to told you about Luke’s Birthday yet, OK, tomorrow) and Lily had a field day. I would say that “Party Store” to Lily is akin to a major, high end shopping mall is to any respectable consumer of modern goods.
These were some of the things she wanted to take home.
All I can say is that at the end of the day I happened upon this impromptu still life and I believe it tells the story quite aptly.
Good night!
Day One Thirty Six
The truth is Luke eats supper at 3:30pm.
It has always been told to me that a child eats five meals a day, the largest often being the fourth meal and the last one is just a snack.
So, I think this is the case with Luke. Now he doesn’t eat five meals, that for sure, but on any given day he has a small breakfast, eats a snack at school, but none of the lunch I pack for him, then comes home exhausted and is starving and I make a large meal for him around 3:30. Today we had two fried chicken cutlets, corn on the cob and about a dozen cheese ravioli’s. He ate every bite.
It is actually a great thing, it meals there is not panic around supper time trying to make food for the whole family, it means Luke’s afternoons are peaceful because he is on a full belly and it means I can clean the kitchen for the most part before I fall down in a fatigue driven stupor for the night.
Lily is a bit harder to figure out, but ill get there. Since she was sick for the last week or so and ate almost nothing during that time, she is now on a food warpath. Everything she sees she wants.
All good little birdies, keep doing exactly what you are doing.
Day One Thirty Five
Music Soothes the savage beast. Not sure who said it, I got it from a Looney Tunes cartoon, but I was amazed, inspired and calmed this afternoon when I put on some music, a wonderful kids album that adults can listen to called “Catch The Moon“. Luke and Lily just super duper relaxed. I mean so much so that at one point I thought Luke was going to fall asleep. I didnt want to get into the world too much, but in this photo Luke is basically lying with his head in Lilys lap while she reads a book. it was delightful to watch.
Meanwhile I “think” Lily is getting better. Much to my astonishment I was actually able to get her stool sample to the lab within the two hour window. (actually, that is technically a lie as I fudged the “out” time by about 15 minutes), but still, I was impressed. We did not hear back about the cultures, but she was much more herself today and look what she can do with a single Oreo cookie!
Day One Thirty Four
Back to the Doctor’s office.
Lily has some sort of stomach trouble. No eating lots of nastiness coming out, sore throat. Yuck.
The good news was that she was great about the exam. We were there oh just a week or so ago and she really gave the Dr. and the nurse a hard time about being poked and prodded.
Now she gets it, nothing bad is going to happen. she asked question “unh, unh, unh!” pointing at everything that was happening to her, but she accommodated and all is well.
Except her stomach, throat and bum.
I am supposed to take a stool sample and then magically get it back to the specimen office within two hours, hows that gonna happen?
