In RIE class there was a lot of talk about this Danish RIE based school for children up to seven years old called Nokken and a video documentary that is pretty amazing to watch even you are interested in child development. No subtitles or translation, but lots of interesting pictures!

Day One Hundred and Two
Boy, it seems things keep getting in the way of my posts. Rain continued moderately for a few days, today is beautiful and sunny and I am clearing up as best I can.
Lily is starting to really formulate words and why is it that it seems amazing even if you have been through it before? Last night she picked up a book that had a cat on the cover and said “kitty cat” plain as day. I was just stunned.
Day One Hundred and One
Rain days, big storm. Lot of fun for us Southern Californians who are always pining for weather. We are calling it a “rain blizzard” in honor of the blizzard we just finished reading about to Luke in “On The Banks of Plum Creek” by Laura Ingalls Wilder.
Mom has a great connection to the “Little House” books, that I never thought twice about, assuming they were boring (to use a word that Luke has gravitated towards) and my only connection to them was the TV show of the 1960’s. Well, like most well known books and certainly ones that have won multiple Caldecott book awards, they are beautiful, insightful and fascinating looks at frontier life and the the main protagonist, Laura, is cut from the same cloth as Lily and Lily’s mom for sure. A life force to be reckoned with. I love them all dearly.
Luke came home after school and promptly read Lily “Brown Bear, Brown Bear”, it was so nice to see and I hope to see a lot more of that soon.
Mommy Days
Thanksgiving weekend, Mommy had a few days off and it is the first time we have all had some time together since this train started.
lily seems to have had a very specific reaction to more Mommy time, which is “don’t even think of putting me down or handing me to Daddy for an instant because if you do I will screech until you think otherwise”
An intense, but very effective approach and it worked for sure.
She also decided she wanted Mommy to rock her to sleep, and still she stayed up for hours on end doing somersaults, dog pose and other assorted acrobatics in the crib.
I am just catching up here, sorry for the slightly erratic posting.
The weekend also started December, which means our lovely and ingenious Advent Calendar that Mom made last year.
We were unprepared, so Dec 1st was two organic lollipops. Luke was happy, but asked that none of the remaining days contain organic lollipops, we shall see what we can do.
Day One Hundred
You gotta figure that originally I had all these dreams about the day one hundred post, and now it is merely a blip in the radar and one that I cannot even recall 72 hours later.
