Day Two Thirty Nine

I got pretty excited about last years Halloween situation, and that was just created a home made Spider-Man outfit for Luke.

This year seems to be a double doozy.

I asked Luke casually like six months ago what he wanted to be for Halloween and without a moments hesitation he said “Thor”.

Six months later I asked him again and he said “Don’t you remember, Thor”

OK, Thor it is. Now you may or may not be aware that Thor is one of the more obscure super heros out there and before there was a blockbuster Thor movie, no one really knew about Thor, except me.

I guess this is just an example of the son wanting to be something that the dad enjoys and talks about. I am by no means a super hero zealot, but I have a few tee shirts and I talk about them sporadically and yes, Thor is one of the few characters I really like. So, there you have it. We are making Thor.

Yesterday we made the hammer or Mjölnir as it is known. I was quite excited to build one from scratch and though it is a bit unwieldily, to me that is all true to the Thor character, you see ONLY Thor can wield the Mjölnir.

thats just the way it is.

Meanwhile Lily is going to be a Giraffe or GiGi and today I finished pinning the headpiece, which will be the hardest part, I think.

Ill be back with the finished items.

Day Two Thirty Six

On the same day Luke falls off a jungle gym and shakes it off Lily says to me as we are driving:

“Me eyes hot”

She had the sun in her eyes. I told her I would pull the shade up on the window when I had a chance and she said ok. At that time this tune was playing on my kids playlist:

You Were Meant To Be Here

I burst into tears in my 2015 Toyota Sienna minivan because it all became clear, I was meant to be here right now with these kids. I was meant to hear the voice mail from Luke’s school and then play it cool when I picked him up, letting him tell me about what happened. I was meant to acknowledge Lily using a full sentence for the second time in her life to ask for help.

They say it all goes by so fast and I know it is true and I only wish I have a moment to cherish each day as I have had today.

Day Two Thirty Five

I was just called by Luke’s school. He had fallen off the monkey bars on to his back and had the wind knocked out of him. They iced him and had him relax in the office. When the office person asked if he wanted her to call mom and dad to let them know he was all right, he said,

“No, you don’t need to do that, I’m all right. Can I go back to class now?”

I feel that defines a very self confident moment and I love you Luke.

Day Two Thirty Three

Our first semi successful trip to the park on bikes. I say “semi” only because it was late in the day and at a certain point Lily was done and I had to carry her (and the bike) the rest of the way home. THAT did not deter us from having a good time.

Luke ran into a friend from his school, which was so nice to see. They just instantly start having extreme fun.

I know there will be many more trips to come!

Day Two Thirty

Just love what Luke is producing in the Lego room. He has gone full circle from creating his own vehicles, to saying he does not want to create his own vehicles as he became more entranced with “sets” and now he is free flowing almost every day there is a new vehicle to his stash.
