Heard on the grapevine:
1. See how long the rudder is on my new lego boat, I saw a picture of it in my invisible newspaper.
2. My thumb is inside my duodenum.
A stay at home Dad tries to keep up
On the same day Luke falls off a jungle gym and shakes it off Lily says to me as we are driving:
“Me eyes hot”
She had the sun in her eyes. I told her I would pull the shade up on the window when I had a chance and she said ok. At that time this tune was playing on my kids playlist:
You Were Meant To Be Here
I burst into tears in my 2015 Toyota Sienna minivan because it all became clear, I was meant to be here right now with these kids. I was meant to hear the voice mail from Luke’s school and then play it cool when I picked him up, letting him tell me about what happened. I was meant to acknowledge Lily using a full sentence for the second time in her life to ask for help.
They say it all goes by so fast and I know it is true and I only wish I have a moment to cherish each day as I have had today.

I try to keep up, but as time goes marching on it seems to get harder and harder. I used to post daily, then I started posting a few times a week, now I feel that huge chasms of time slip by without a murmuring. I could say all that is about to change, but it is probably not. I am one busy dad, that is for sure.
In RIE class today our teacher mentioned how great it can be to record the small moments in a child’s life, that when she looks back (at her two teenage girls ) it is the simple, un ceremonious moments that she wants to watch over and over. Playing on the bed, talking in the car, etc.
I hope that it what I can capture and save here at the Continuing Adventures of Luke and Lily.
Our teacher also said that sometimes it is better to NOT record, photograph, etc the moment and just be in it.
I do that a LOT, I am definitively being IN it.
Our first semi successful trip to the park on bikes. I say “semi” only because it was late in the day and at a certain point Lily was done and I had to carry her (and the bike) the rest of the way home. THAT did not deter us from having a good time.
Luke ran into a friend from his school, which was so nice to see. They just instantly start having extreme fun.
I know there will be many more trips to come!
